When I bought a new modern cable do I have to call to Internet company to activate the modern or not ? When i insert cable to modern it is nothing work at all .. Please helps

you did not go over how to do the onscreen portion of the setup. Nothing popped up on the comptuer screen for me to set up. If I unplug the ethernet cable from my laptop, I lose internet connection. I unplugged power, replugged it for the router and the modem and nothing new comes up on the screen for me to set up. I have the ethernet cable connected from the modem to the router, and another one from the laptop to one of the ports on the router for the purposes of setting up the wireless network name which never came up on my laptop screen. Pretty frustrating.

No, it doesn't lol The person in the video happened to use a wire. You don't need any Ethernet cables in the Lan slots.

Any router will work for a modem. The differences in routers is the company name and the signal strength it sends to laptops and other devices. I would recommend linksys, since i think its the best.
